Itinerary

Day 1: Individual arrival to Munich

Day 2: Munich – Tegernsee (approx.

Day 3: Tegernsee - Jenbach (approx.

Day 4: Jenbach – Innsbruck (approx. 35 km/21 mi) / Train from Innsbruck to Brenner / Brenner – Brixen (approx. 45 km/28 mi) / (total approx. 80 km/49 mi)

From Jenbach you cycle alongside of the Inn river to Innsbruck, the state capital of Tyrol. Take a stroll through the historic old town and visit the city’s most famous symbol the ‘Goldenes Dachl’ (‘Golden Roof’). If you have spare time don’t miss the trip to the Bergisel hill with its ski jump and museum. The first challenging part of today’s stage from Innsbruck to Brenner Pass, the border between Austria and Italy, will be covered by train. Afterwards the route leads you along the signposted Eisacktal cycle path to Brixen. The cycle path is mostly flat with slight ascends and guides you through picturesque villages to the Franzensfeste Fortress. Before you arrive in Brixen you pass Lake Vahrner and the historic Neustift monastery.

Day 5: Brixen – Bozen (approx. 40 km/25 mi)

After Brixen, the route directs you to Klausen and following the lead of the Eisack river to Waidbruck with a beautiful view of the Trostburg castle. From now on, the valley narrows and leads you to the picturesque valley of Bozen.

Day 6: Bozen – Trient (approx. 65 km/40 mi)

For today’s stage from Bozen to Salurn, there are two possibilities to choose from: either on the old railroad to Überetsch and further on to Kaltern and lake Kalterer or across the wide valley of Etsch. At the Salurner Klause you are leaving the German-speaking part of South Tyrol and cycle on through the well-known wine-growing area of Trentino until you reach Trient.

Day 7: Trient – Riva del Garda (approx. 50 km/31 mi)

After passing the old Tyrolean border town Roverto you leave the valley of Etsch behind and cross the pass of San Giovanni (387 m) until you reach Lake Garda.

Day 8: Departure from Lake Garda

Extend your visit for sightseeing or depart individually.
